FLOAT AWAY

Alexandria Nalepa

This blog follows the process of my Senior Project for my undergrad in Simulation, Animation, and Gaming at Eastern Michigan University. I will be modeling a fantastical hot air balloon with two characters riding on it, and showing the character modeling process through video tutorials. I hope to entertain and educate through my art, and I'm excited to put my passions and hard work out into the world!

Rendering takes so long! My poor computer has been working non-stop for three days on my first scene. It's 450 frames long and it's taking forever, The video in this post is only a sneak-peak of that intro scene. It's one of three different camera angles in my balloon showcase video. The final product will be worth it! Pixar averages 31 hours per frame for their animated films and shorts, but as a single person I keep it to a few minutes at the most. There are settings that can be changed to make sure that the render time isn't crazy while not losing any noticeable quality in your end product.

About

My name is Alexandria Nalepa and I'm a Simulation, Animation, and Gaming student at Eastern Michigan University. I have professional experience in stage production and live musical performance, and I use my skills in the physical world to better my work in 3d. In my current line of  work I specialize in stage light programming and design, as well as graphic design, stage setting, and sound production. In my major, I specialize in character modeling and environment design, specifically modeling, but I also work in textures and lighting/rendering.
