FLOAT AWAY

Alexandria Nalepa

This blog follows the process of my Senior Project for my undergrad in Simulation, Animation, and Gaming at Eastern Michigan University. I will be modeling a fantastical hot air balloon with two characters riding on it, and showing the character modeling process through video tutorials. I hope to entertain and educate through my art, and I'm excited to put my passions and hard work out into the world!

Making the Balloon

Over the last two weeks, I've been modeling the balloon itself for my final scene. I lost a few assets and all of my materials, so there's an obvious difference between the renders from last week and those from this week. The renders with the red balloon are from before the file loss, and the ones that are mostly grey are from after it.

So far in my process, I've modeled the balloon, ropes, carabiners, the engine (burner), the basket of the balloon and some wrought iron rails around it, sand bags and sailboat-style cleats for the ropes, as well as a table and chairs with wine glasses and a bottle.

This coming week I'll finish the modeling of the balloon and begin the process of character modeling. This will take me two weeks, so expect a halfway-update next week!
